The two items OPP are reminding you to equip your vehicle with are a survival kit and winter tires
OXFORD COUNTY - Winter is coming and with this in mind the OPP is reminding motorists locally to be prepared.
Constable Kees Wijands tells Heart FM it is also a good idea to have a survival kit.
"Just have that snow shovel, kitty litter, a candle and a couple of other little things you should have in your vehicle this time of year like booster cables and a blanket so you have them ready in case you do get stranded."
He adds one of the first things you should do is get your winter tires installed, if you wait until the first snow fall then you have likely waited too long.
"It's proven over and over again that winter tires save lives and they just keep us safe in the winter time, it's proven."
Also make sure to give yourself plenty of time to get to your destination in the winter time and change your driving habits accordingly as roads can be covered in snow and ice.
