Toddlers and small children in Otterville will get a new way to keep cool this summer.
OTTERVILLE - The brand new Otterville mini splash pad is set to have a grand opening this Saturday at Otterville Park at 1 p.m.
Director of Community Development Services with Norwich Township Patrick Hovorka says the pad will cater to toddlers. "The pad itself is designed for toddlers, so a very young age group. It's sort of that forgotten age group when it comes to recreational opportunities and that's only because of their limited nature. I feel that we are offering a bit of an amenity most communities probably don't have and it really compliments our existing outdoor pool."
The splash pad will be located next to the outdoor pool in Otterville Park and cost roughly $50 000 to build. Most of the money for the project came from a Trillium Foundation grant of $30 000. The Otterville Optimist Club, Friends of Otterville Park, Norwich Township and Otterville fire fighters also contributed to the splash pad with a number of fundraising events over the past year. Hovorka says everyone is invited to the grand opening which will include local politicians and they will have someone from the Trillium Foundation to speak on this as well.
