Oxford Community Foundation Presenting "Pecha Kucha"

Heart FM Local News

20 slides, 20 seconds.

That's the format for an upcoming dinner and presentation being put on by the Oxford Community Foundation.

It's a "Pecha Kucha", which is a Japanese speaking format that keeps the topics moving.  Each presenter has 20 seconds to talk about a picture before moving onto the next one.  The total presentation time finishes at 6-minutes, 40-seconds.

Organizer Tanya Murray says it's going to make for a fun and informative night, "I think it's going to be a really dynamic presentation format.  The presenters are going to present in-between dinner courses.  It's not your normal power point presentation snooze-fest.  It's going to be something that's fun, fast paced, and enjoyable for those who watch."

Murray says the three course meal, and the presentations will have an Oxford County flavour.  "It's all about celebrating Oxford.  Our food will be based on local food.  Local presenters will be talking about spectacular things that have happened in Oxford County, or where they, as Oxford County residents went out into the world and experienced great things, and they're going to bring that experience back to everybody."

The presenters include Author Bill Butt, who is writing a play on George Leslie MacKay.

Jeff Workman, a Woodstock resident, will be talking about conquering Mount Kilimanjaro.

And Jackie Thompson, Reference Librarian from the Woodstock Public Library will be talking about recording oral history from Oxford County.

The event is on Friday, October 18th at the Quality Hotel & Suites.  Tickets are $100, in support of the Oxford Community Foundation.

For tickets, call OCF Executive Director Keith Hudson at 519-539-7447 Ext. 229.
