The OCAR says the cat came back, and he brought along all his friends. They are looking for help to feed many hungry mouths.
WOODSTOCK - Oxford County Animal Rescue needs your help.
Foster Coordinator Anna Holmes says they are seeing an unusually high number of cats in need. "We have had a number of requests for surrenders and to pick up strays and abandoned cats and kittens. Right now we have about 25 cats and kittens in our foster program. A number of those kittens are very young so we are in need of canned wet food and kitten kibble."
Right now, the charity organization is at full capacity for cats."Just the other day there were four 3 week old kittens that were left at a vet's office," says Holmes. "Two days before that we picked up a mom and three 4 week old kittens from someone's backyard. We get calls daily with people asking us to take kittens that have wandered into their yard or a pregnant mother that had her babies in a window well." Holmes says they aren't sure why there has been a sudden influx of cats in need.
If anyone wants to help out, either with physical donations or a monetary gift, the office is located at the Woodstock fairgrounds. Staff are there on Thursdays from 6:30p.m. until 8p.m. or Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. until noon. Harris says if those times do not work for you, but you'd still like to help out to message them on Facebook and they will try to work something out with you.
They are also always looking for new volunteers and foster parents.
The Oxford County Animal Rescue is a registered not-for-profit charity organization.
