WOODSTOCK - Oxford County pride was on full display this weekend in Woodstock.
On Saturday the Pride Coalition hosted a family fun day at the Park. This was followed by an adults only party at Riff's at 8 p.m. Chair person of the Oxford County Pride Committee Tami Murray tells Heart FM this is their 4th year of hosting these annual events.
"Pride is really about advocacy, it's about diversity, inclusion, safety and in Oxford County this is our 4th year and we're growing bigger and better and we still have a long way to go for our LGBTQ youth and adults and families to feel safe in the community."
The family fun day featured a BBQ, superheroes, games for the kids, and lot's of rainbow flags. Murray says the numbers keep growing year after year at the family fun day.
"I can tell you about 2 years ago, I came and we had about 40-50 people in attendance and today I guarantee you we had about 200 people roaming through, we had 25 vendors here, which are community service providers, such as businesses and this year we had actually organizations calling us, not us knocking on there door. That tells me that people are increasing their awareness and they want to part of the advocacy."
