OXFORD COUNTY - November is National Women Abuse Prevention Month.
Here in Oxford County, there was a flag raising this morning that County Office Building.
Manager of Programs and Outreach at Ingamo Homes, Joanna Piatkowski explains what the event means.
"It's again just to sort of commemorate the start of National Women Abuse Prevention Month, and just to sort of highlight the unfortunate need for services that we still require here in Oxford County, and all across Ontario."
She adds, purple is the theme for the month, so people might be wearing purple clothing, or see lights in different communities that are purple.
Piatkowski says residents have a few ways to help financially.
"They can either purchase a purple scarf from several businesses, or they can just support organizations that are doing the work right now, such as Ingamo Homes or DASO, and directly donate to both organizations."
She adds people can find where the scarves are being sold by checking out Social Media pages of Ingamo Homes Woodstock, DART Oxford, or DASO.
