School aged students in Oxford County showing any COVID-19 symptoms will be able to get their test results back in 15 minutes with a new rapid testing program.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County EMS will start offering COVID-19 rapid testing to school aged children who are showing symptoms.
The new COVID-19 Analyzers can complete the COVID-19 test in 15 minutes with definitive results received before patients even leave the assessment centre.
Under current guidelines, a school aged child with one symptom of COVID-19 can result in the child and family members being required to self-isolate until negative test results are received. Now, though with the Oxford County Paramedics new COVID-19 rapid testing program, children can have their results immediately. This will really help local parents and guardians get back to work sooner and will help kids get back to school, once in person learning resumes in the Province.
Testing appointments can be done through the Woodstock Hospital Assessment Centre. The actual onsite testing will be done at the Oxford County Paramedic Services Headquarters on Mill Street. The test involves a nasal swab performed by paramedics. Patients will receive proof of testing and test results before they leave.
More information on how to book an appointment for the rapid testing for school aged children can be found online here through the Woodstock Hospital Assessment Centre's web site.
