The Oxford Lions Club has donated $5,400 to VON Sakura House and $3,000 to the Wellington Animal Rescue Fund.
VON Sakura House received $5,400 while the Wellington Animal Rescue Fund gratefully accepted $3,000.
Chair of the VON Oxford Community Board John Goodbun is very appreciative of groups like the Lions who keep coming back time and time again.
"[Sakura House] is a million dollar operation and of course the people that stay there and are cared for do it at no cost of their own, so as long as we continue to raise funds and community support like from the Oxford Lions it is paramount to what we are trying to do."
Office Administrator for the Wellington Animal Hospital Kim Stere says this money will help fund surgeries and care for animals who have no where else to turn.
"At one point they would just be euthanized due to the long term care. We've had some here for up to six months and that takes a lot of time and effort to get them back where they need to be."
