WOODSTOCK - The Oxford Lions Club has presented a cheque to four local charities.
Member Steve Newton says they raised over $6,000 and distributed the money yesterday.
"We handed out $6,250 to four different charities. We gave $2,250 to VON Sakura House, $2,000 to the Lions District A-15 International Youth Camp, $1,000 to the Wellington Animal Hospital Rescue Relief Fund and $1,000 to the Lions Dog Guides."
Newton says the money was raised through three fundraiser's they do every year with the Oxford Lions Club.
"We are a small club and we just focus on the three projects. One is a Fish and Chip dinner that we have at the Charles Dickens Pub which featured a local band Perry Lane. We also had an annual music and silent auction that we held at the Legion and we are also involved with the Outdoor Farm Show here in Woodstock."
Newton says they meet together as a Club to decide which charities to donate to every year.
