Oxford County MP, Arpan Khanna, shares his thoughts and reaction to the Liberals getting a majority government.
OTTAWA - The Country is now under a majority Liberal government.
This happened through floor crossings and byelections. Member of Parliament for Oxford County, Arpan Khanna, has this message after getting messages from his constituents.
"I would never cross the floor. I was elected as a Conservative Member of Parliament. The 38,000 plus that put their trust in me here in Oxford, you know, their votes, their support, and all the support I've received from all different political parties here in Oxford County since being elected. You know, I honour that."
Khanna mentions he has received messages regarding the floor crossings and the meaning of voting in an election. He says people are starting to doubt the importance of voting, if the politician can just cross the floor to another party. Khanna wants people to hear this message.
"Don't lose hope. Don't lose faith. Don't give up. You know, walking away from voting or feeling that your vote doesn't matter is not going to solve the problems in our county and is not going to solve the problems in our country."
Khanna says he will continue to advocate for his riding as well as hold the Liberals accountable and propose ideas and solutions. He adds that there is strength in numbers, and he, along with the Conservative Party, will continue to fight for solutions to issues brought forward by the people.
