The results are in from the referendum asking Oxford County residents to vote on cuts to health care.
WOODSTOCK - Over 2000 people in Oxford County voted in a referendum asking the Province to stop making cuts to health care.
99.5 percent of the people who voted in the referendum wanted the government to stop making cuts to health and to restore services and staff at local hospitals. Tomorrow the Oxford Health Coalition and Coalition for Social Justice will join activists from across the Province at Queens Park to present the results of the vote.
Spokesperson for the coalitions Bryan Smith tells Heart FM they have heard a number of horror stories from people in Oxford who have been impacted by the cuts.
"So there is a number of people who were scheduled for cataract surgery, who got phone calls and were told well we have done our quota's for those so you will just have to stay in the state you are in which is basically legally blind for another period of time. We've heard story after story of people in various caring professions working beyond the call of duty in many many ways, hours, time, devotion and working themselves to the point where they are going to have to stop working or fall down."
Smith wanted to thank all of the municipal tiers in Oxford who supported the coalitions and allowed them to have places for people to vote.
