The recruitment process for a new County CAO began back in June and after over 70 applications, the position has been filled. Peter Crockett comes from Hamilton bringing 31 years experience in the municipal sector. His strengths are in strategic planning and capital budget management. Warden Don McKay says it was a challenge to review all of the applications but believes they've chosen the best candidate. "All of departments are strong and we have leaders on provincial matters whether it's planning, public works, water and sewer... Certainly our finances are in order. But the challenges that are ahead of us will probably be better met with a fresh set of eyes. So we look forward to his starting date of October 29th," said McKay. Most recently, Crockett has overseen the City of Toronto's Technical Services Division, which delivers over $500 million in construction works each year. He replaces former CAO Mike Bragg, who retired after 46 years of service with Oxford.
