Jim Palmer is out campaigning in hopes of securing a spot on council in Ward 3 in Norwich Township.
NORWICH - A lifelong resident has added himself into the equation for a spot on Norwich council. Jim Palmer has filed his papers to run for Ward 3 in the township. This is not the first time Palmer has run for a spot on council, the last time in 2006 unexpected circumstances arose.
"I ran eight years ago but lost, I'm a farmer and 8 years ago we had an early harvest time and I was helping farmers do combining so I didn't have a chance to go out and do campaigning."
Despite the loss Palmer has continued serving actively within the community in addition to serving on committees and societies.
"I'm an engineer, I've been for last 8 years on the Oxford County Land Division committee, I've approached council several times on delegations asking for money as secretary and president of the Norwich Historical society."
Palmer has given some thought to a concern raised by many Norwich residents.
"Seniors housing is a really tough one to solve, its all about money on that one, like whose going to provide it."
Palmer is up against Ward 3 incumbent Russell Jull.
