Southwestern Ontario Student Transportation Services is warning parents about the possibility of bus delays or cancellations because of driver shortages when kids head back to school next week.
OXFORD COUNTY - School buses are getting ready to hit the road next week, with students heading back to class in the TVDSB and LDCSB.
Southwestern Ontario Student Transportation Services is advising parents and caregivers to be ready to provide alternate transportation in case of delays.
A few buses have been running already this year, getting students with specialized needs to classes. They are preparing to get back to full operation next week.
Bus cancellations can happen because of bad weather. Cancellations and delays are posted in both the morning and afternoon each day on mybigyellowbus.ca.
There is also the concern of the potential for driver shortages with only a small supply list of drivers to cover open routes or absences. STS warns the reality of driver shortages means route cancellations will be unavoidable, and this will be disruptive to families.
