The battle against polio continues. This past February, Rotarians worldwide raised more than 1-billion dollars to try and eradicate the disease. But it's still not enough. The Rotary Foundation has teamed up for a new initiative called "Pennies and More for Polio." Former Rotarian and Oxford's MP Dave MacKenzie says the disease is still prevalent in a handful of countries. "There's still a little bit of work to be done. Some countries are still not polio free, but we've had Rotarians from Oxford County go to Africa to administer this vaccine, and I think that's a great thing," said MacKenzie. Every dollar raised by the Rotary Foundation will be matched by both the Government of Canada and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Your local Rotary Club is accepting donations as they continue to support causes like this along with many others.
