Petrie could not believe the support he received from the community.
INGERSOLL - The town of Ingersoll have elected a long-time councillor to be their new Mayor.
Brian Petrie, who received 1815 votes, will be sworn into Town Council on November 15.
We spoke to Petrie the morning after the election, and he was still on cloud nine.
"I can't believe the support I received from the community. I'm just so grateful for the opportunity they've given me and all the support from family and friends and the time they've given up. It's a little bit surreal right now and I'm trying to take it all in."
Petrie said the first thing on the agenda when he becomes Mayor is to get Council up to date on training, move forward with the strategic plan, and then in no time, it will be budget season.
Ingersoll's Mayor-elect will also be sworn into County Council on November 23, and Petrie says he is looking forward to being able to provide his services county-wide as well.
Lastly, Petrie wanted to thank his wife for co-managing his campaign, as well as everybody in town who waved and honked while he was on the street corner. He also says he is looking forward to working with the new council soon.
Petrie is joined by Deputy Mayor-elect Lindsay Wilson and councillors Kristy Van Kooten Bossence, Rick Eus, Shannon Hutson, Mike Bowman, and Khadijah Haliru.
