It was a great weekend for the Navy Vets and the Merchants, but a not so great weekend for the Braves.
PJHL - It was a weekend of wins for the Woodstock Navy Vets.
They beat the Dorchester Dolphins 3-2 at Southwood Arena Friday, with Logan Pace-Roth scoring the game winning goal in overtime. The Vets also crushed the Hespeler Shamrocks 6-1 yesterday, with Scott Rodrigue making 20 saves for Woodstock.
Meanwhile, the Tavistock Braves fell to the New Hamburg Firebirds 5-3 on Friday and suffered a 3-2 overtime loss to the Norwich Merchants on Saturday. The Merchants also doubled the Wellesley Applejacks 4-2 on Friday.
The Merchants are tied with the Firebirds for first place in the Doherty Division standings with 56 points each. The Navy Vets are not too far behind with 51 points, and they're followed by the Wellesley Applejacks with 44 points, the Dolphins with 35 points, the Titans with 25 points, and the Braves with 24 points. The Shamrocks sit in last place with 18 points.
Over in the Yeck Division, the Thamesford Trojans suffered a 6-1 loss to the North Middlesex Stars on Friday but they did beat the Port Stanley Sailors 3-2 on Saturday.
The Trojans sit in sixth place in the Yeck Division standings with 38 points. They're behind the Stars with 41 points, the Sailors with 43 points, the Mount Brydges Bulldogs with 45 points, the Exeter Hawks with 49 points, and the Petrolia Flyers with 51 points.
