The What The Health Youth team were advocating for plain packaging on tobacco products today.
WOODSTOCK - Students with the What the Health youth team were at the Gallery Cinemas today in Woodstock.
They wanted to promote standardized packaging across the tobacco industry. Youth Health Advocate Olivia Gudziewski tells Heart FM why they are promoting plain packaging.
"Especially goes towards kids and youth, kids follow every single thing that they see, especially if they see celebrities or if they see any kind of endorsements on packaging it makes them want to endorse it more."
The team is advocating for plain packaging that would be used across the board for tobacco products so they couldn't be set apart. The What the Health team was on hand this morning to speak with families after the movie about the benefits of plain and standardized packaging for tobacco products. Plain packages would eliminate one of the last ways the tobacco industry can market their products to youth.
Over 500 people were at the theatre this morning for Execulink's free movie day where they got to watch the movie Trolls.
