Woodstock Police are keeping their eyes open for distracted/impaired drivers this Victoria Day weekend.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Police will be out in full force this long weekend.
They will be having RIDE programs in order to crack down on drivers impaired by drugs or alcohol. They will also be on the lookout for distracted drivers doing things like texting or eating behind the wheel.
Constable Nikki VanLeeuwen explains why the police force is giving this weekend some extra attention.
"It's really our first kind of launch into the good weather and the summer season where people are more apt to consume more alcohol, go to more barbeque's and attend more parties. So we really need to be out there, be visible and be more diligent on our roadways."
VanLeeuwen adds the police force wants every one to have a good time this weekend, but they also want everyone to be safe.
"Woodstock Police wants people to have fun this weekend, but we want you to be sensible, choose your ride, plan ahead and be smart behind the wheel."
