The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority will put their newly renovated swimming pools on display this weekend
Just in time for summer vacation, the Upper Thames River Conversation Authority is throwing a set of pool parties to reveal upgrades at Fanshawe, Wildwood and Pittock conservation areas.
Superintendent of Pittock Brent Verscheure says the pool renovations were paid for in part by the federal government's Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund in 2012 and 2013.
The plumbing, pumps and filters, which will increase efficiency were among the components replaced.
The conservation authority also swapped out tiles, worked on the concrete around the pool and improved the visual aspects of deck and sheds.
"The Pittock Conservation Area pool was installed many, many years ago and because of its popularity amongst the campers it's seen plenty of visitors and had plenty of use." said Verscheure.
"Aging pool infrastructure and the opportunity to take part in the Economic Action Plan encouraged us here at the conservation authority to move forward and work with these changes," he said.
The Pittock celebration starts Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Guests are welcomed to come and see the upgrades, though regular day pass fees will apply.
Staff and a member of the UTRCA board of directors will present an overview of the renovations, followed by pool activities for the kids. Cake and refreshments will also be served to go along with the festivities.
Events will also be taking place at Fanshawe conservation on Saturday and at Wildwood Sunday.
