Police are looking for help to find the person who stole funds from a poppy donation box at the Simcoe Legion.
SIMCOE - A disheartening story out of Simcoe today as a poppy donation box was stolen from the Legion on West Street.
Norfolk OPP say the crime happened sometime between Monday and Wednesday morning. The poppy donation box was taken from the counter of the bar area. Police say the person who stole the money took the box to the bathroom when no one was looking, stole the cash and left the poppies scattered in the washroom.
"Our veterans have played such an integral role in Canadian history and society, and this act of theft is very disturbing. The OPP are seeking the public’s assistance with this investigation. If anyone has any information regarding this incident they are being asked to contact the Norfolk County OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122", comments Constable Ed Sanchuk, Norfolk County OPP.
