Two girls from Woodstock will never forget getting a "ticket" from a WPS officer for a free ice cream cone for practicing bike safety.
WOODSTOCK - A couple of kids in Woodstock will never forget getting a ticket from the WPS.
PC Pelleboer spotted Serena and Bianca wearing their helmets while out riding bikes on the weekend. He stopped to chat with the girls about bike safety and provided them with WPS swag and free McDonald's ice cream coupons. The coupons are part of the Woodstock Police positive ticket campaign. Officers will give them out when they spot local kids wearing bike helmets, practicing safety or being helpful.
Serena and Bianca's mom took the picture and sent this message to the detachment.
"This kind officer took time out of his morning today to recognize my girls for wearing helmets!! He was so kind and left them feeling so proud of themselves. The free ice cream was a nice treat too. Thank you from all 3 of us !!!!! You made our day!"
It is Police Week in the Province as well and the theme this year is "Working together to keep our communities safe." Woodstock Police will be sharing similar stories all week.
