Two-thirds of the Salvation Army's fundraising from November to December is by mail.
TORONTO - The Canada Post strike has had a negative effect on donations to the Salvation Army.
According to Toronto-based spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel John Murray, 65 percent of the Salvation Army's annual fundraising is between November 1st and December 31st, and two-thirds of it is by mail. With that being said, the charity organization is down $9 million compared to last year.
Those looking to donate to the Salvation Army can do so at one of the red kettles outside stores and businesses. You can also donate online here or call 1-800-SAL-ARMY.
Canada Post submitted a proposal to the Canadian Union of Postal Workers on Friday, and it's still waiting for a formal response from the union.
