Where is Doug Ford is trending online as the Premier is a no show for the second day in a row at the legislature.
ONTARIO - Where is Doug Ford is trending on Twitter as the Premier skips out on the legislature for a second day in a row.
Opposition parties are taking aim at the Premier again today for not facing the music after controversial decisions announced Friday night. Over the weekend the Premier reversed course on a couple of those decisions including allowing playgrounds to be open and taking away new policing powers that would give officers the ability to stop and question people at random.
The NDP and leader Andrea Horwath are calling for the Province to close all non essential businesses immediately and implement paid sick days.
"ICUs are overflowing and COVID patients are being cared for in waiting rooms and crowded hospital hallways. The spread is out of control, and the experts have been clear that we can't get it under control until we stop it from tearing through workplaces and making workers and their families sick."
Ontario Liberal Leader Steven Del Duca says the Premier is in hiding.
"Since last week, Doug Ford has been in hiding, not making a single public appearance minus one bizarre tweet begging for help from the European Union’s Ambassador to Canada. This is a Premier in witness protection, and it’s never been so clear he needs to go. He's attempting to shut down parliament to escape from the outrage he caused with his abysmal handling of the third wave. How can our Premier - the person who has repeatedly said the buck stops with him - hide from the very people he was elected to represent?"
Ontario Cabinet Ministers including Deputy Premier Christine Elliott are at Question Period today. The Ontario legislature is set to close tomorrow as a COVID-19 safety measure.
