The Townships of South-West Oxford and Malahide have teamed up for a bridge replacement on Pressey Line.
OXFORD COUNTY - A stretch of Pressey Line is shut down as construction crews work to replace the bridge that's over Catfish Creek.
The road will remain closed between Pigram Road and Springer Hill Road until December 22nd.
South-West Oxford Mayor David Mayberry says they carefully scheduled the project in order to lessen the impact.
"We've been trying to make sure, when you take a bridge out its least disruptive to the public. We've heard from the farmers in the area that they'd prefer that we wait until late in the fall when the crops are all off."
Mayberry says the project is also a team effort.
"We've also had to align our budgets with the Township of Malahide to make sure that we both have the money in budget at the same time so we can share the cost with them."
It's going to cost $554,400 total, which means each municipality will have to pitch in $227,200. South-West Oxford is taking $27,000 out of reserves and using the levy to pay for the rest of their share.
