Province Confirms 1,670 New Cases of COVID-19 This Morning

Most of the new cases today are coming from hot spot regions with 667 new cases in Toronto, 317 in Peel, 125 in York Region and 100 in Halton. 

ONTARIO - The Province of Ontario has confirmed 1,670 new cases of COVID-19 this morning, bringing the total number of cases in the Province to 275,330. The daily positivity rate today was 2.5%. 

The Province also announced 45 new COVID-19 related deaths bringing the total to 6,438.  Another 2,223 cases have been labelled resolved, bringing the total number of resolved cases to 253,170. The Province has confirmed 3 new cases of the UK variant of COVID-19, bringing the total to 155 and 1 case of the South African variant.

The province completed 62,710 tests yesterday. We currently have 1,043 COVID-19 patients in the hospital with 325 people in the ICU and 225 in the ICU on a ventilator. Most of the new cases are coming from hot spot regions with 667 new cases in Toronto, 317 in Peel, 125 in York Region and 100 in Halton.
