The appeal process for convicted murderer Michael Rafferty continues today. Rafferty is expected to make an appearance via video at the Ontario Court of Appeal in Toronto. Reports indicate today's hearing will focus mainly on his attempt to seek a lawyer through the assistance of legal aid. Rafferty was convicted of first-degree murder, sexual assault causing bodily harm and kidnapping in May of 2012 in the death of Tori Stafford. He is currently serving a life sentence with no chance for parole for 25 years. Rafferty began his appeal in July 2012, claiming the jury did not understand the "evidentiary requirement" to convict him of first-degree murder.
