The latest donation from the GM CAMI Assembly workforce breaks previous record
Smiles all around this morning at the CAMI plant in Ingersoll.
A cheque for $561,211 was presented to the United Way of Oxford and Middlesex.
That's an all-time high for a workforce that continues to break the half-a-million dollar mark every single year.
UNIFOR Local 88 Plant Chair Mike Van Boekel says, "It's fantastic. For the people in our plant to reach out to the communities, it's a great reflection on the members, everyone that works here. Unfortunately, there seems to be a bigger need for it every year, but the membership always answers the bell."
United Way of Oxford Executive Director Kelly Gilson says it's another amazing donation coming on CAMI's 25th anniversary. "I have to tell ya, it's the most generous workforce. The support year after year is amazing, wanting to help the community, believing in United Way and the work that we do, that our partners do...we couldn't do it without them."
Over 25-years, the CAMI workforce has donated $7.4-million to the United Way.
The workers decide whether their donations go to the Middlesex or Oxford United Way.
