The Norwich Optimist Club is bringing back their popular chili cook off, but adding a new twist this year.
NORWICH - The Norwich Optimist Club is on the hunt for the best chili in the township.
Registration is now open for their Chili Cook Off on Saturday March 24th at the Community Centre.
First, second and third place prizes will be handed out for the Most Flavourful chili. Awards will also be presented to the teams with the most unique ingredient and the best display.
Event Chair Kelly Murphy says the local firefighters brought their "A" game a couple of years ago.
"They definitely got the award for the best costume; they were dressed in hula skirts, they had a tiki hut set up and they had made their chili with pineapple in it."
Murphy says the teams will have a say as to where to money goes this year.
"Anyone who enters the Chili Cook Off will get a percentage of the funds raised to donate to a children's charity or organization of their choice."
Some of the options include Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Norwich Upper Deck Youth Centre. You can also donate the funds to a local sports organization or church youth group.
The registration form is posted on the Norwich Optimist Club Facebook page. You can also e-mail info@norwichoptimistevents.com or call 519-983-6229 or 519-468-2199 to sign up.
You can find more information on their Facebook event page.
