The Alzheimer Society Southwest Partners will be hosting four IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer's events on Saturday May 27th. Two of them will be in Oxford County.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Alzheimer Society Southwest Partners is getting ready for one of its biggest fundraisers.
The IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer's will be taking place on Saturday May 27th in Woodstock, Tillsonburg, London, and St. Thomas. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. and the walk will get underway at 10:00 a.m. Everything should wrap up by 12:00 p.m.
The Woodstock event will be happening at College Ave Secondary School and the Tillsonburg event will takeover Annandale Public School.
Director of Development Leslie Rand says it will be fun for the whole family.
"There will be family-friendly activities, food, some entertainment, and lots of things that will be going on that will be fun for the whole family. As for the distance, it's a walk around a track so you can walk as little or as much as you would like."
She adds all of the money raised will stay local and help provide free programs to those in need in Oxford County.
"It's a really great opportunity for families, friends, circles of care and support, and folks who are engaged and know someone living with dementia to come out and have a day of support, celebration and do something to help."
The Alzheimer Society Southwest Partners would like to raise a total of $325,000 through the four walks.
Those looking to sign up can register online here, call 519-421-2466, or they can stop by the Alzheimer Society office located at 575 Peel Street in Woodstock.
Leslie Rand stopped by the Heart FM studio to chat with Dan and Marcie on Monday May 8th and you can listen to the full interview below:
