Registration closes on Wednesday, December 11th and the judging will take place on Thursday, December 12th.
SWOX - It's a Christmas tradition in the Township of South-West Oxford.
The municipality has launched its annual Christmas Lights Contest and Wednesday, December 11th is the deadline to register.
There's a form online here, but Township Clerk and Deputy CAO Julie Middleton says there's a new addition to the registration process this year.
"We're changing things up a little bit this year. We would like to have people that would like to participate in the contest actually send us a photo of their display and then we'll be doing some judging at the municipal office based on the photos we receive."
The judging will take place on Thursday, December 12th. Awards will be handed out for the homes with the best traditional, family-friendly, and unique displays.
Middleton says people go all out for this contest every year
"We've had people that have lights all over their house, they have lights within their gardens and lights all over their trees. We've seen a lot of inflatables, more so in recent years. Some communities have come together and put up the same inflatables throughout their street which is really nice to see and fun to do for the community."
Once the registration closes, the Township will put together a map of all the light displays so residents can go see them. There's an option on the registration form if you would like to have your display included in the map or not.
You can find more information about the Christmas Lights Contest online here.
