Relatively Tame Friday the 13th in Port Dover

An estimated 45 thousand bikers took in the festivities in Port Dover on Friday. OPP did respond to a fatal crash involving a bike on Friday afternoon in Hagersville.

PORT DOVER - It was relatively tame Friday the 13th in Port Dover this year.

Normally the event would draw hundreds of thousands of people to the popular beach town for a Friday the 13th in mid August. It was a nice sunny day, perfect for riding. This year however, an estimated 45 thousand bikers took in the event. You could see wall to wall bikers in the town, however they did have a little more space than normal.

Norfolk OPP Detachment Commander Rob Scott says it was a relatively peaceful event with only a few minor incidents.

"We responded to minor calls for service and on behalf of the OPP, I would like thank all of our partners and community stakeholders for their efforts in making this a safe event for everyone."

Police did respond to a fatal collision on Friday afternoon at Highway 6 and 1st line in Hagersville.

A motorcycle and two passenger vehicles were struck from behind by a vehicle at the traffic signals.

The rider of the motorcycle involved was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased. It is not immediately clear if the motorcyclist was heading to or from Port Dover.
