The Rotary Club reaches out to the public for financial support to help those who have left Syria
WOODSTOCK - The Rotary Clubs in Oxford County are collecting donations through the United Nations for Syrian Refugees.
Rotary has been affiliated with the UN since it's inception and actually helped charter the United Nations. International Service Chair and UN representative for the Woodstock Oxford Rotary Club Doug Vincent tells Heart FM what the money will go towards.
"In the immediate near future we need to help those people with water with food, with shelter, and medications. Rotarians can ask their friends, their family, their colleagues to donate funds and help make a difference."
Vince says Rotary has a long standing relationship with the UN.
"Rotary's partnership with the UN started back in 1945 when 49 Rotarians from around the world helped charter the United Nations and they were are the first meeting in San Francisco where the United Nations was formed."
You can donate to the cause locally at the Rotary web site http://www.woodstockoxfordrotary.org/
