The WCI Red Devils have cement their position in OFSAA after winning big in the WOSSAA.
WOODSTOCK - The Red Devils have high hopes for the OFSAA.
The Senior boys basketball team from WCI has recently won the gold at WOSAA after beating Monsenior Bruyere 64-51 yesterday. They also celebrated wins over Goderich and Mitchell during the regional tournament.
The local team already had a spot in OFSAA being the host, Coach Eric Molinaro says their position is cemented with the WOSAA championship.
"We, as a team, thought it was essential that we win our regional championship to prove that we belong regardless of hosting, because you do get an automatic bid as the host."
He believed in his team from day one.
"When we put in the bid (to host OFSAA) a couple years ago, we knew that our team would be good enough to compete at the OFSAA level. So That was the goal for the get go."
OFSSA will get underway next Monday and the games will be played at WCI, Notre Dame, CASS and St. Mary's.
The tournament schedule will be posted online.
