The County of Brant is offering a special program for parents who have kids who have a hard time meeting Santa Claus.
PARIS - Sensitive Santa is coming to Brantford and Paris.
The County of Brant and the City of Brantford offer the program for kids with sensory or other disabilities and who have a hard time meeting Santa every year. The program allows kids to meet Santa in a calm environment where the lights are dimmed, the music is turned off and there are no lineups to content with.
Accessibility Coordinator for the County of Brant Sheena Yarek says about 25 families used the sensitive Santa program last year.
"We are so excited that Sensitive Santa will be returning to Brantford and Paris and offering a quieter, sensory-friendly environment. For some children, a noisy, busy environment can be overwhelming."
Municipal Accessibility Plan Coordinator for the City of Brantford Jenny Sawicki says this program is a partnership between the City, the County and the Lynden Park Mall in Brantford and the Canadian Deaf Blind Association in Paris.
"The City of Brantford is thrilled to be part of the Sensitive Santa program once again. We had such a positive response last year and it’s very important for us to continue to connect children with the Sensitive Santa program. All children deserve to feel the magic of Christmas."
Yarek says you do need to pre-register for a chance to visit with sensitive Santa.
"Christmas is such a magical time and our wish is for every child to be able to have a wonderful visit with Santa. Spaces fill up quickly so we encourage you to call and book your visit soon."
Pre-booked visits with Sensitive Santa are offered on Sunday, December 2, 9 and 16 at Lynden Park Mall in Brantford and Saturday, December 8, 2018 at the Canadian Deaf Blind Association in Paris.
To book a special visit with Sensitive Santa, please contact Sheena Yarek, Accessibility Coordinator for the County of Brant at 519-442-1818 x 3204 or email accessibility@brant.ca.
