The Special Investigations Unit has invoked their mandate after a serious crash in Courtland.
COURTLAND/TILLSONBURG - The Special Investigations Unit is investigating after a single vehicle crash in Courtland.
Norfolk County OPP, Fire and EMS responded to the crash on Main Street on Saturday afternoon.
The driver lost control and collided with a tree. He was air lifted to the hospital with life threatening injuries
Further investigation revealed that an officer with the Oxford County OPP attempted to stop the same vehicle earlier near Concession Street East in Tillsonburg.
As a result of this interaction, the OPP has notified the province's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) which has invoked its mandate.
The SIU invokes their mandate whenever there is a circumstance involving police and civilians that has resulted in serious injury, death or allegations of sexual assault.
