A video has been posted on the OPP West Region Twitter page, highlighting a commercial motor vehicle inspection blitz in Zorra Township on May 26th.
ZORRA TOWNSHIP - The Oxford OPP joined forces with the Norfolk OPP, the Brant OPP, the Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of Finance for a commercial motor vehicle inspection blitz in Zorra Township.
A total of 39 charges were laid by the end of the day on Thursday, May 26th. Fifteen trucks were placed out of service and four were taken off the roads.
Officer Steve McPherson with the Ministry of Transportation helped with the inspections in Embro. In a video posted on the OPP West Region Twitter page, he talks about some of the common issues he encountered.
"Some of the defects I have come across personally today are break adjustments, improper license, leaking wheel seals and stuff like that. There's been numerous other defects that officers have found and it drives home the point that you should do a proper trip inspection at the beginning of the day so you don't run into problems."
Constable Adam Lawton with the Oxford OPP was also featured in the video. He found several vehicles with brake defects and cargo related issues.
"A lot of these should be found on a pre-trip inspection. So we want to reinforce the importance of doing proper pre-trip inspections before you leave for the day and doing them in accordance to the inspection schedule while properly identifying the defects."
