Volunteers will be set up today at Food Basics to collect donations for Operation Sharing.
WOODSTOCK - The cupboards are currently bare at Operation Sharing and they are in desperate need of taxable items.
Operation Sharing's Food for Friends program offers people a food card to purchase groceries at several local stores. The card can only be used on grocery items that are not taxed, such as meats, fruits and vegetables. The organization always carries taxable items such as toiletries and the like to hand out to patrons.
Right now their cupboards are bare and they do not have any of those items to give out. With this in mind they are hosting a taxable food drive today at the Food Basics on Dundas Street in Woodstock. Volunteers will be set up outside the store collecting items. Taxable items in need include diapers, wipes, feminine hygiene products, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, paper towels and other cleaning supplies.
This Taxable Food Drive is proudly sponsored by Heart FM. It is happening all day today from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm.
