The SIU has found no reasonable grounds to believe the OPP officer committed a criminal offence.
INGERSOLL - The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is no longer investigating an incident in Ingersoll.
Officials say an Oxford OPP officer tried to pull over a speeding vehicle on Highway 401 in the early morning hours of May 4th, 2025. The driver got off at the Harris Street exit, so the the officer stopped the pursuit.
A single vehicle crash was reported close to Canterbury Street shortly afterward, which sent the 40-year-old man behind the wheel to hospital with a broken femur and multiple rib fractures.
The SIU has determined that it has no reason to believe the Oxford OPP officer committed a criminal offence in this case.
The SIU investigates incidents with police that result in death, serious injury, sexual assault, and/or discharge of a firearm.
