The SIU have dropped an investigation against local police after a person died at the Elgin-Middlesex Detention Centre, following a crash near Woodstock.
WOODSTOCK - The Province's Special Investigations Unit is dropping its review of a man who died in policy custody last month.
On July 1st, the OPP contacted the SIU to report that a man they had arrested had been admitted to hospital, this following a single vehicle motor crash at the Woodstock OnRoute Service Centre.
After being treated, the man was taken to the Elgin-Middlesex Detention Centre. He was found dead in his cell July 6th.
The cause of death remains unknown at this time.
