Police shot and killed a man in Fergus on Sunday afternoon after responding to a domestic call that also left an OPP officer with serious injuries.
FERGUS - The Special Investigations Unit is investigating after police shot and killed a man in Fergus.
Officers were called to a home on Belsyde Avenue East for a domestic call around 1:30 Sunday afternoon. During the call, there was interaction with OPP officers and the man. A police officer shot the man and he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
One officer was injured in the altercation and was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Four investigators and three forensic investigators have been assigned to the case.
The SIU is urging anyone who may have information about this investigation to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529. The Unit is also urging anyone who may have any video evidence related to this incident to upload that video through the SIU website.
