The Woodstock Fire Department is reminding everyone to clean out their lint traps after a fire on Finkle Street.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Fire Department responded to a small blaze on Finkle Street this afternoon.
The fire started in the dryer and damage was kept at a minimum thanks to a quick response from fire crews. Public Information Coordinator Lisa Woods tells Heart FM it is important to maintain your dryer on a regular basis.
"A lot of these fires start because people have not cleaned their lint traps and that doesn't just mean the one that you pull out from inside the dryer, that means the venting that goes to the outside needs to be cleaned on a regular basis. You do this so that it can properly flow, it doesn't over heat and that lint that's in there doesn't start a fire."
Woods says they did have to use their ventilation systems to clear the house of minor smoke damage.
