Jeremy Smith will continue to serve as the Ward 3 Councillor of East Zorra-Tavistock for the next four years.
EAST ZORRA-TAVISTOCK - The Ward 3 Councillor of East Zorra-Tavistock will be sticking around for another four years.
Jeremy Smith has filled the council seat since 2006.
This is the first time he has ever been acclaimed in his political career.
"I'm kind of missing all the preparation and deployment of a plan that goes hand in hand in hopes of being the people's choice. But I do still anticipate in speaking with as many residents and rate payers that I can over the next several weeks; just as if I were running."
During his time on council he has played a role in the re-construction of residential streets in Innerkip and the Stone Gate Park Project.
He has two big things on his to-do list for his next term.
"First order of business for the municipality's next council beginning in December will be to hire a Chief Administrative Officer to replace our long-time CAO Jeff Carswell who left us; Interim CAO Ruth Coursey will certainly be a part of that process. Additionally, there will be renewed deliberation and an eventual decision on our office facility. Both issues play a significant role in moving East Zorra-Tavistock forward."
Outside of Council Chambers, Smith is a member of the Board of Management at the Innerkip Community Centre, a Volunteer Director of the Innerkip Seniors Apartment Complex and a founding member of the Innerkip Central School Home and School Association.
