An Ontario law introduced at the beginning of the year is going to be enforced everywhere this summer.
OXFORD COUNTY - Patio season has arrived and you may notice something different while enjoying a meal or a drink outside this year. This is the first summer where all patios in Ontario will be completely smoke free.
Manager of the Downtown Woodstock BIA Kelly Morrison told Heart FM the change will have little impact for the downtown businesses because all of the businesses there have had a no smoking policy on patios for the past 6 years. She adds the positive for the downtown is now everyone will be following the same policy.
Several businesses in Woodstock told Heart FM they were not exactly thrilled with the new law saying it might impact their business this summer as some smokers may chose to stay home.
The new law came into effect in Ontario on New Years Day and this is the first patio season where it will be implemented.
