Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is expected to launch a federal election campaign on Sunday.
Reuters says the PM is planning to visit Governor General Mary Simon this weekend and ask her to dissolve Parliament.
It's expected that Trudeau will announce a 36-day campaign on Sunday, making voting day Monday, September 20th.
Trudeau came to power in 2015 with a majority government, but now has a minority government.
Meanwhile, opposition leaders are already criticizing the Prime Minister for launching an election during the pandemic.
NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh said an early election would be "selfish", and Conservative Leader Erin O'Toole says the Liberals shouldn't rush Canada into a federal election.
