Ward 5 in South-West Oxford is back up to two candidates after Aaron Lonsberry has submitted his nomination paperwork.
SOUTH-WEST OXFORD - A lifelong resident of South-West Oxford is running for council in Ward 5.
Aaron Lonsberry grew up on his family farm and is on the Mount Elgin Fire Department. He says why now is the right time to put forward his nomination.
"Well, I've been looking into it for over a year now, and I plan on living my entire life here. So, I want to make sure that Southwest Oxford is a viable place to live and work and farm for everybody in the future, including all the future generations to come."
Lonsberry adds he knows there are a few issues that could use change, but will not judge them. He mentions if he gets elected, he would like to gain the knowledge of the thought decisions from the previous council. He also talks about what would set him apart from the other candidate.
"For me, it'd be my youth. I offer a unique perspective on the challenges that the youth are facing today with housing and even taking over farm succession."
Residents will head to the polls and cast their ballots on Monday, October 26, 2026.
