Southwestern Public Health has confirmed 5 new cases of the virus this morning and 1 recovery. 2 of the new cases are in Norwich and the recovery was in Woodstock.
OXFORD/ST.THOMAS/ELGIN - Southwestern Public Health is reporting 5 new cases of the virus this morning and 1 recoveries.
We currently have 49 active cases of the virus in the region with 13 in Oxford County. Here is the breakdown of the locations according to Southwestern Public Health:
Woodstock - 7
Tillsonburg - 3
Norwich - 2
South-West Oxford - 1
Bayham - 34
St. Thomas - 1
Aylmer - 1
To date we have had 7 institutional outbreaks at Long Term Care Homes. We currently only have 1 active outbreak at the Secord Trails LTC home in Ingersoll where 1 staff member has tested positive. 5 people from the region have died from the virus. Southwestern Public Health is also dealing with an outbreak at an Orchard Farm in Bayham where 40 workers have tested positive.
The number one symptom that has led to a positive test in the region is a cough, followed by a fever. Other symptoms that have resulted in positive tests include fatigue, headache, sore throat, shortness of breath and nasal congestion just to name a few. 17% of people who have tested positive in our region were asymptomatic.
