In total, the clinics provided 484,560 vaccines to people in need.
WOODSTOCK - Southwestern Public Health will close the doors to its Mass Immunization Clinics in Woodstock and St. Thomas.
The organization says the decision was easy to make, now that the surge of COVID-19 related appointments has decreased.
The health unit began its vaccination campaign in March 2021, and it grew to become the largest undertaking in the organization’s history. At their peak the clinics vaccinated more than 2,500 people per day. In total, the clinics provided 484,560 vaccines to people in need.
Program Manager Jamie Fletcher, who has been with the program since it opened, thanked community members for their involvement.
"Thousands of community members championed the benefits of vaccination, shared our information on social media, provided rides to those needing them, and encouraged friends and families to get vaccinated. This milestone is shared by all of you.”
February 17th is the last day the clinics will be open to the public. Those who are more than six months out from their last dose are encouraged to visit one of the free clinics before then. You can also book vaccine appointments online here, or by telephone at the toll-free number 1-833-943-3900.
