WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Police handed out 77 tickets during their annual Spring Traffic Enforcement Initiative.
Officers were out in full force last week and they were targeting intersections with high collision rates in the friendly city. Most of the tickets were for speeding and disobeying a stop sign. They also handed out tickets for careless driving, parking infractions and not wearing a seatbelt.
Two things they were targeting as well was distracted driving and impaired driving. Constable Nikki VanLeeuwen tells Heart FM they actually didn't find anyone doing either of those things last week.
"We're happy to see we didn't have to hand out tickets because it is still an issue and I'm not sure if it's just luck that people weren't caught or the situation itself because we were targeting intersections, I still think that is an issue we need to tackle and we can't ignore that is still happening but last week we didn't hand out any charges."
All of the charges for disobeying a stop sign happened at Springbank and Mohican.
