DJ Kennington of St Thomas will once again represent Canada in the Daytona 500 today.
The Daytona 500 is going to feature local talent, for a second year in a row.
DJ Kennington of St Thomas is going to be the lone Canadian competing this year, starting in the 30th position. He started his stock car racing career at Delaware Speedway.
He made history 2017, as the first Canadian to make it into the race in 29 years.
"I consider myself just a small town guy from St Thomas but having everybody behind you and so on really makes it pretty cool."
Kennington will represent Gaunt Brothers Racing today in a Toyota with number 96. He's preparing for an exciting afternoon.
"The cars are driving very loose and very crazy. I think it's going to be one of those races where you have to survive and hopefully we're still running in the end."
Kennington made it to lap 127 last year, before ending up in a 16 car crash with Jimmie Johnson and Chris Buescher.
Today's race will get underway at 2:30pm.
